Are you looking for two more elective credits this semester, while adding work to your portfolio?

If so, and if you’ve completed an Intro and a Lighting class, consider registering for VCOM 2424—Photography for Nonprofits.  This service learning/civic engagement class provides free photography services to worthwhile nonprofit organizations in the area, while offering great on-the-job learning opportunities in all aspects of  free-lance photography.  Class  and individual projects include studio and location portraits, photographing program activities such as conferences, play rehearsals, client-service sessions, group photos, and more.  Organizations that have previously used our services include:  Burnsville Performing Arts Center, Caring Bridge, American Composer’s Forum, DARTS, the V.A. Hospital, Cabrini Partnership, Hastings Family Service, and the  International Dyslexia Association.

The class will meet some Thursday afternoons from 2 – 4 pm, while most activities will be scheduled as needed.  Some of the jobs are full-class projects, while others will be handled by one or two students.

The class begins Thursday, Feb. 2, and ends the last week of the semester.  For more information contact Peter Latner at 651-423-8590, peter.latner@dctc.edu, or at his office (1-111N).
